Citizens Monthly: March 2025
It’s the middle of March, spring is almost officially upon us. we are knee-deep in the season of Lent, and God is doing some great things in our church. Welcome to the second installment of Citizens Monthly. Let us tell you what’s going in our community!
Gatherings at Needham Chapel
We’ve been meeting in our new location, the beautiful Needham Chapel on the campus of Vanguard University, for the past 2 ½ months, and it’s been a wonderful home for our gatherings. We’ve shared meals together, studied God’s Word together, worshiped together (thanks to an amazing group of friends of Citizens), and grown together as a community.Though we are still on the lookout for a permanent home where we can hold gatherings on Sunday mornings, we are incredibly grateful for Vanguard’s hospitality and look forward to many more gatherings in Needham Chapel. Join us there on Sunday nights from 4:30-6:00, and bring a friend!
Little Citizens
Our amazing kids are a vital part of the Citizens community, and we have an equally amazing group of volunteer leaders who care for them, teach them, and pray with and for them. All this is overseen by our very own Crystal Willis who shares this about our “Little Citizens.”
Our kids’ services offer an opportunity for kids ages 2 through middle school to come together for Bible lessons, storytelling, crafts, and fun. It is a great time for kids and volunteers to connect with one another as we pray, play, and learn, all in the context of God’s Word. This month, our curriculum focuses on working together and treating others how you want to be treated, and our monthly verse isEcclesiastes 4:9 – “Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor.”
Financial Update
Our giving has remained consistent since last month’s update. Our projected gross revenue for June1-March 1 was $53,000, and our current actual gross revenue is $76,000, which has enabled us to cover the rent on our new gathering space, purchase some needed supplies, and begin to have regular worship at our gatherings, all while maintaining a reserve of roughly $20,000 in the bank.
The fact that our financial situation has been so strong and consistent given the size of our community is incredible and is a testament to the radical generosity of the Citizens community. We are beyond grateful to everyone who sacrifices so willingly and joyfully to provide for the needs of this beautiful church! Thank you! We couldn’t do this without you!
That said, we are still looking to grow our giving so that we can expand our church’s capacity. In the near future, we would like to be able to consider additional staffing for worship and kids ministry as well as to build a fund that will help us move into a permanent home. Easter at the Beach
This year, we’ll celebrate our first Easter as Citizens Church by gathering at the beach in Corona Del Mar for a time of worship, teaching, prayer, food, and fun. More details will be coming soon, but in the meantime, save the date! Sunday, April 20 from 9-11 AM. We hope to see you there!
